What is bridge mode and how do I set this up?

Bridge mode is a configuration that disables the NAT feature on Mercku's M2 and M6.

The process of Network Address Translation (NAT) involves re-writing the source and/or destination address of IP packets as they pass through a router and it allows multiple hosts on a private network to access the internet using a single public IP address. Bridge mode is only needed when encountering specific cases of Double NAT.

We support bridge mode, but some features including port forwarding, DMZ host, DDNS VPN, and Parental controls will be disabled.

Bridge mode can be configured through the Mercku App or Portal.

Please note: the M2 and M6 support a wired bridged connection, not wireless. Connect the ethernet cable to the M2's or M6'sWAN port.

The management route is the same on both the Mercku M2 and the Mercku M6.

Bridge mode can be configured through the Mercku App or Portal.

Using the Mercku App:

  1. Open the Mercku App on your device.

  2. Select Settings > Network Settings > Network Mode

  3. Enable Bridge Mode

  4. Once enabled, the router will reboot and then go into bridge mode

Using the Mercku Portal:

  1. Go to http://mywifi.mercku.tech and log in
  2. Select Advanced Settings > Network Mode
  3. Select Bridge Mode and click Save

Once enabled, the router will reboot and then go into bridge mode. Most router functions will be disabled, except for ‘Manage the router’, ‘Internet’, ‘Wi-Fi Settings’, ‘Admin password’, ‘Network mode’, and ‘Upgrade Firmware’.

Please Note: If no IP is assigned from the upper network, please reboot/factory reset the main M2 unit.
